Despite being seriously wounded in the head by a bullet fired by Israeli soldiers, Palestinian child Mohammed al-Tamimi was not released from detention on charges of throwing stones.
After his release, a new operation is awaiting the release of a wounded Palestinian child Mohammed Fadl al-Tamimi, 15, from the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, in the center of the West Bank. The occupation in his head, which almost killed his life. On 26 February, he was arrested from his home more than two months after being injured.
His detention continued for about ten hours at the Israeli camp of Benjamin, located on Palestinian land east of Ramallah, and he was harassed along with others who were arrested on the same day. As for his family, he lived in tension and fear, fearing that Muhammad would suffer any harm because of the seriousness of his health.
On the morning of February 26, the Israeli occupation forces arrested 10 Palestinians from the village of Nabi Saleh, including five children, including Mohammed's brother, Tamim, 17. Muhammad did not know that the siege of the house of his family by the occupation forces and the entry of heavily armed soldiers was intended to arrest him, he tells the "new Arab" shortly after he was released the day he was arrested.
Mohammed tells the story of his arrest by the occupation forces. "When I woke up, the soldiers were inside the house, I did not expect to be arrested, they asked me to wear my clothes, my parents screamed and tried to stop them from arresting me," the officer threatened to fire tear gas and tear gas at the house.
Because Mohammed has a serious head injury, and his brain may be damaged for any reason, he asked the occupation officer not to beat him. But when he arrived at the camp of Benjamin, he and other detainees were appalled, and he was afraid to get him in the head.
The beating continued for about half an hour, before he began his interrogation about his involvement in throwing stones at Israeli soldiers. When they confirmed that he was injured at the time, they realized that the communication was false and released. Muhammad then handed over to the Palestinian liaison who handed him over to his family.
In this context, Mohammed's father, Fadl al-Tamimi, told the "new Arab": "Muhammad's injury prevents him from going out in the sun or the cold, so how can he be arrested by the occupation soldiers? Of tension for fear that he would be hated. "
Mohammed was shot by rubber bullets fired by Israeli soldiers after clashes in the village on December 15 in 2017, in protest against the announcement by US President Donald Trump Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.
At that time, Muhammad was playing football with his friends in a neighborhood of the village, and the bullet almost killed him because he was fired from a very short distance, hit his face directly, and settled near his brain.
On that day, a few minutes later, a close friend of Muhammad, the child Ahd al-Tamimi, appeared in a video slapping an Israeli soldier, using the yard of her family's house as a trap to target the youths with bullets. Only four days later, the occupation arrested her father, mother Nariman Tamimi and her cousin Noor, who was released about a month and a half ago.
Mohammed underwent surgery to remove the bullet and parts of the skull, until the brain returns to normal after being enlarged. The remaining parts were kept at a temperature of 70 ° C, until he underwent the restoration of the skull parts at the Advisory Hospital in Ramallah on 4 March. His family hopes that Mohammed will return to normal life after his success.
During an interrogation with Muhammad, the Israeli intelligence officer contacted his father, Fadl al-Tamimi, and told him that the family had the right to attend the interrogation sessions without being allowed to do so, because Muhammad and another child posed a threat to state security. Fadel asks: "What danger are they talking about as two children?"
The Tamimi family was not released from the incitement of the occupation against it. The coordinator of the Israeli occupation government, Yoav Mordecai, wrote on his Facebook page: "The child Mohammed Fadl al-Tamimi admitted after being arrested that he was shot in the head after falling from a bicycle and not hit by a rubber bullet by an army Occupation.
But his father admitted that Muhammad confessed to this under pressure of torture and intimidation during interrogation, being beaten and slapped by investigators. "
His father says to the "new Arab" that the Israeli occupation forces incite against the Tamimi family in general and they lie. Medical reports confirm that Mohammed was hit by rubber bullets from close range, playing soccer with his friends in a neighborhood of Prophet Saleh.
And confirms that he will go to the Israeli courts with the aim of filing a lawsuit against the occupation army to shoot at his child from a very close distance.
Fadl al-Tamimi says that what happened with his son Mohammed is criminal practiced by the Israeli occupation. When they arrested him, they knew the seriousness of his injury, and he told them that there were reports confirming what he was saying about the seriousness of the injury, although it was clear. However, the officer told him: "I have orders to arrest."
When the Israeli occupation forces broke into the home of Fadl al-Tamimi's family, they asked him to gather all his family members. Then they asked him if anyone remained. He replied, "My son Muhammad is asleep." They asked him to wake him, but he was surprised that they wanted to arrest his two children, Mohammed and Tamim.
At that time, Fadl refused, "There were verbal exchanges between me and the soldiers of the occupation." They then threatened the family with sound bombs and tear gas. "They let them take it for fear of the family, and it happened."
What is important to the family now is that Muhammad returns as before, and is waiting for an operation to cultivate the skull bones that have been removed.
It is not the first time Mohammed has been arrested. In April of last year, he was detained for three months despite his youth, as part of an ongoing campaign against the village of Nabi Saleh, which is witnessing anti-occupation activities involving the village's children. Some of them have been arrested or injured, some of them from outside Palestine.
