Two Palestinian relatives were arrested in the West Bank on Friday

The Israeli army on Saturday arrested two relatives of a Palestinian who carried out an operation in which two Israeli soldiers were killed Friday in the occupied West Bank.

Two other soldiers were wounded in the attack, one of them seriously, after a Palestinian had run over them near a military checkpoint in western Jenin in the northern West Bank.

The operation was in a "day of anger" called by Palestinians a hundred days after President Donald Trump declared his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Israeli army said the driver of the car was wounded and taken to the hospital where he was being questioned.

The Shin Beth security service said on Friday that the Palestinian was named Alaa Qabha, born in 1991 and from the town of Barta'a, southwest of Jenin. He was arrested in an Israeli prison for "security reasons" and was released in April 2017.

Tensions rose on Friday as Hamas called for a "day of anger" 100 days after the US president declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel. Hamas praised the attack but did not claim responsibility.

At least 32 Palestinians and four Israelis have been killed since the Trump declaration sparked protests across the Arab and Muslim worlds.
