A Facebook court on Friday threatened a fine of up to 100 million euros ($ 125 million) if it continues to violate privacy laws by tracking people on third-party sites.
In a case filed by Belgium's privacy watchdog, the court also ruled that Facebook should delete all data it illegally collected about Belgian citizens, including people who do not use Facebook itself.
The court said the social networking group uses different ways to track people's behavior over the Internet, if not on the company's website, by placing cookies and invisible dots on third-party sites.
Facebook responded, in a statement, announcing its intention to appeal.
She explained that the technology she uses was in line with industry standards, and gives users the right to refuse to collect data on websites and applications on their advertising program.
